Secret Santa Generator

Enter everyone's names and draw gift assignments — no one gets themselves.

Draw Secret Santa names in one click

Type everyone’s names, hit draw, and Pickly randomly assigns each person someone to buy a gift for. The draw always produces a valid circle where no one is assigned themselves and everyone both gives and receives once.

Keeping it secret

For an in-person group, the organizer can reveal each line privately — screenshot a single row and send it to that person, or read them out one at a time. Because it draws instantly, you can redraw as many times as you like before sharing.

Great for any group

Offices, families, friend groups, classrooms — it works for any size from three people up. No sign-up, no email addresses, and names never leave your browser.

How does the Secret Santa generator work?
Enter everyone's names and draw. Each person is randomly assigned someone else to give a gift to, and no one is ever assigned themselves.
Can I keep the assignments secret?
The organizer can screenshot or note each line privately. For a fully blind draw, have one person run it and share each assignment individually.
How many people do I need?
At least three. It works for any group size, and the more names you add the better.
Is it free and private?
Yes — free, no sign-up, and names stay in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

How Secret Santa works

Secret Santa is a gift-exchange tradition where everyone in a group is secretly assigned one other person to buy a present for. Instead of everyone buying for everyone, each person gives and receives a single thoughtful gift, usually within an agreed budget. Names are traditionally drawn from a hat, but that falls apart the moment someone draws themselves or the group is not all in the same room.

Running a great gift exchange

A few decisions make the whole thing smoother: set a clear budget so nobody feels awkward, agree a theme if you want (funny gifts, homemade only, books), and share wishlists so givers have a starting point. Pick a date to open gifts and a gentle deadline for buying. For remote groups, a shared list of wishlists plus a video-call reveal works brilliantly.

Why draw names online

An online drawer fixes the two classic hat problems in one click: nobody is ever assigned themselves, and everyone gives and receives exactly once. It also works when your group is spread across different cities — the organiser runs the draw and quietly shares each assignment, no physical hat required. Because the draw happens in your browser and nothing is stored, you can reshuffle as many times as you like before sending the results out.
